Both Lutemax 2020 and Lutemax Free Lutein (both oil suspension [sunflower] 20% SKUs) from OmniActive Health Technologies are now Non-GMO Project Verified. Lutemax 2020 is a naturally-derived ingredient from premium marigold flowers, containing lutein and the zeaxanthin isomers, RR-zeaxanthin and RS [meso]-zeaxanthin. Produced through a fully vertically integrated supply chain under GMPs and sustainable practices, the Lutemax range of ingredients is found in leading eye health formulas around the world.
The Non-GMO Project Product Verification Program is North America’s only third-party verification for Non-GMO foods and products. To ensure the materials and facilities used to produce the Lutemax range were non-GMO compliant, verification was completed and confirmed through a rigorous process by our technical administrator NSF International.
“We have invested tremendously in R&D, clinical studies, operational and manufacturing efficiencies as well as education and awareness campaigns, and this is another huge milestone as we pursue our goal to deliver the best macular carotenoid ingredient on the market,” said Makrand Bhalerao, vice president, Quality of OmniActive. “Having Non-GMO Project verification is what all ingredients in our industry strive for, and this is just the first step in our ongoing efforts toward gaining certification for our entire Lutemax range of ingredients.”
According to a Nielsen report, just over 50% of the people surveyed in North America say they try to avoid GMOs, and Mintel reports this concern spans generations—from millennials to baby boomers. Mirroring this sentiment, Brian Appell, marketing manager, Activation of OmniActive said, “it’s clear that consumers are increasingly concerned about GMOs and are actively seeking alternatives and greater transparency in their choices. As part of our efforts around traceability and transparency, we felt that non-GMO verification was the next logical step.”
