Standard Process, a supplement company specializing in whole food-based products, recently announced the launch of its latest supplement, GI Stability, which contains a formula of 2’-Fuccosyllacctose (2’-FL), Collinsonia root, and two whole food ingredients, beet and okra powder. GI Stability was formulated to support a healthy gut microbiome, by feeding the growth of beneficial bacteria, in a process which is believed to help support the immune system.

The prebiotic carbohydrate 2’-FL is a unique Human Milk Oligosaccharide (HMO) that resists digestion and moves directly to the lower GI tract, where it becomes effective in feeding select bacteria and positively interacting with microbes, Standard Process said in a statement. HMOs are complex glycans that are present at very high concentrations in human breast milk, and contribute to the benefits of breastfeeding that are linked to long-term development, immune protection, and microbial population cultivation, all of which are not exclusive to infants, according to studies on 2’-FL supplementation in adult, infant, and animal human populations.
Proper elimination is a necessary component of healthy GI function, which is why Standard Process included Collinsonia root, a traditional herb that has been historically utilized to support normal elimination and various digestive health conditions.
GI Stability is designed for both everyday and acute gastrointestinal needs, including factors such as antibiotic use, dietary changes, short-term travel, stress, and environmental toxins. The supplement has a recommended dosage of six wafers per day for two weeks in order to address acute issues in the short-term, whereas, for long-term support, Standard Process recommends two chewable wafers per day.
