Nutrasource Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Services, a global full-service contract research organization, has become a member of the NASC (National Animal Supplement Council) as a preferred supplier.
Preferred suppliers are companies that are pre-qualified to supply products and services to NASC primary suppliers without additional vendor qualifications that fall under NASC cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices). For companies to display the preferred supplier seal, they must satisfy strict acceptance criteria each year to ensure ongoing compliance.
“NASC sets the bar high for our Preferred Supplier program and we are pleased to welcome Nutrasource as the newest member of the program,” NASC President Bill Bookout said. “Nutrasource is a proven leader in helping customers find solutions across the product development spectrum and we believe they will be a trusted partner for NASC members.”
There has been a renewed interest and focus on pet and animal health, Nutrasource said. The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) recently reported that 23 million American households aquired a pet during COVID-19.
“The market for pet foods and dietary supplements continues to expand, and now, more companies are looking to therapeutic claims to differentiate themselves,” Will Rowe, president and CEO of Nutrasource, said. “It is important for Nutrasource to align with NASC as health products intended for pets must meet compliance requirements for ingredient content, product claims, and risk to animal health as directed and regulated by Health Canada and the FDA in the U.S.”
