Family-Friendly Omega 3s

GO3 brings its brand of fish oil supplements stateside…with the help of David Beckham.

It’s widely accepted that fish oil-based omega 3 supplements impart a wealth of health benefits; however what’s not widely accepted is omega 3s’ sometimes fishy taste. GO3 Ltd., an associated company of Findus Ltd., a UK-based premium quality frozen meals and fish producer, recently introduced its eponymous brand of omega 3 fish oil supplement to consumers in the U.S. The line features formulations for both adults and children and is fronted by international soccer celebrity, David Beckham.

According to GO3, the U.S. was a critical market for the brand. Citing statistics from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) that indicate an estimated 17% of U.S. children are overweight or obese due to inactivity and poor eating habits, GO3 said its omega 3 fish oil supplements “will help American consumers address growing concern related to getting enough beneficial omega 3 oils in the diet, which has been shown to improve circulation, learning and concentration as well as promote healthy joints and skin.”

The American diet, which is stereotypically full of nutritional potholes, was the primary factor that compelled the company to launch its supplements in the U.S. “Since U.S. consumers eat a heavy western style diet that is focused on meat, the opportunities to consume the recommended two to three servings of fatty fish are low,” said Tove Skarsheim, marketing director for GO3. “Also, the fatty fish that are highest in omega 3s are low on the consumer popularity and grocery store availability list (sardines, anchovies, mackerel, etc.).”

GO3 omega 3 fish oil supplements for adults were developed from a 100-year-old Norwegian recipe derived from anchovy and sardines and made from fish meat. Housed in vegetarian-friendly fish gelatin capsules, the adult supplements contain 1192 mg of purified fish oil concentrate, featuring 608 mg of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and “other omega 3s.” A serving of two capsules also contains 1833 IU of vitamin A, 240 IU of vitamin D and 15 IU of vitamin E.

“In addition to being made from the highest quality fish oil, GO3 omega 3 supplements taste great and are an easy way to get beneficial omega 3 nutrients into the daily diet of today’s consumer; especially for busy families and consumers that are not eating the recommended two servings of fatty fish per week,” commented Ms. Skarsheim.

Formulated for kids ages four and up, GO3 Junior for children delivers 604 mg of DHA and EPA in a palatable Strawberry flavored chewable caplet format that can either be chewed or swallowed. The Junior omega 3 capsules are also sugar-free and sweetened with xylitol, a naturally occurring “tooth friendly” sweetener that has fewer calories than regular sugar.

“Our omega 3 products are extremely high quality and are individually sealed in foil trays for maximum freshness, versus crammed into a jar,” Ms. Skarsheim noted, adding that the products are currently available for sale on the company’s website.

A 30-day, 60 capsule (adult) or caplet (children’s) supply of GO3 omega 3 fish oil supplements are available for $21.95. GO3 Junior chewable omega 3 fish oil supplements are available in packages of 60 individually-sealed capsules. Each chewable Strawberry flavored capsule is enclosed in soccer field-illustrated blister packaging.
