Fuji Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., Toyama, Japan, has acquired Swedish natural astaxanthin manufacturer, BioProcess AB. BioProcess has commenced operations under the new name AstaReal AB and is headed by Kazuyuki Miyakawa, president of Micro Gaia, Inc., Maui, HI, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji. Micro Gaia has changed its name to BioReal to strike a common image for Fuji’s global presence within the natural astaxanthin market, which also includes Fuji’s Japanese-based subsidiary in Tokyo by the name of NatuReal.
