Tone NorthStar Nutritionals, Baltimore, MD, has launched UroLogic, an all-natural dietary supplement designed to support strong urinary function, bladder strength and bladder tone. The proprietary formula contains the Western herb horsetail, which is traditionally used to address urinary health issues, the ayurvedic herb crateva, which improves bladder tone, and added minerals to support nerve transmission.
Chewable Acidophilus with Bifidus
American Health, Ronkonkoma, NY, has extended its line of Chewable Acidophilus with the release of an “assorted” fruit flavor supplement. The new product offers three fruit flavors—Banana, Strawberry and Blueberry—in one convenient bottle. Wafers are created with a variety of viable strains of lactobaccilus cultures, guaranteed for purity, potency and freshness, and deliver one billion organisms guaranteed at time of manufacture. Formulas are suitable for vegetarians, and are free of wheat, milk or milk derivatives, lactose, soy, artificial flavor and sodium (less than 5 mg per serving).
Non-Refrigerated Yogurts
Yokit, Inc., Racine, WI, has introduced Yokit instant snack foods—simply add water, shake and eat. They provide all the important nutritional benefits of yogurt without the need for refrigeration. Shelf life is more than one year. Yokit comes in a 5.5-oz. serving size cup, complete with instant mix and spoon. Flavors include Strawberry, French Vanilla, Tropical Fruit, Raspberry, Orange Dreamsicle, Pineapple and Strawberry-Banana.
Green Tea Nutrition Bar
Tzu Thè, Atlanta, GA has combined all the health benefits of green tea with the popularity and convenience of food bars to introduce T-Bar, a raw whole food green tea nutrition bar that has been cold processed, promoting optimum enzyme activity. These vegan-friendly bars contain antioxidants from EGCG-rich green tea leaves and brewer’s yeast that is generated from Japan’s Sapporo beer distillery. They are rich in protein, natural cellulose, vitamin B, zinc, selenium and chromium. The bars also contain a total of 14 minerals and nine essential amino acids. They are available in Multi-Grain, Japanese Germ Rice and Tropical Fruit varieties.
Nutrient Enhanced Soda
Ardea Beverage Co., Minneapolis, MN, has unveiled airforce Immune Nutrisoda, which contains zinc, echinacea, vitamins A and E, selenium and the amino acid L-arginine to boost the body’s immune defenses. With natural colors and crisp tangerine and lime natural fruit flavors, Immune contains only 15 calories and zero sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine, sodium or aspartame.
Aromatherapy Beverage
Purifique Naturally, LLC, Carmel, CA, has launched two botanical beverage flavors: Purifique Harmony with cinnamon rose essences and Purifique Spirit featuring a ginger mint bouquet. Pushing the aromatherapy envelope beyond steam-distilled essential oils and their hydrosol byproducts, Purifique Naturally has developed a proprietary low-temperature process that is similar to that of producing a fine wine. The company intends to lead the new “nutritional aromatherapy” category with its oxygen-rich beverages that not only feature an ultra aromatic taste, but also promote energy, uplift mood and feature diet aid qualities, and skin and metabolic regulation.
Pressure Optimizer
Jarrow Formulas, Los Angeles, CA, has introduced Pressure Optimizer, a product that supports healthy blood pressure for those already within normal range. Its primary constituent is AmealPeptide, a patented extract of hydrolyzed casein that contains two tripeptides (Valyl-Prolyl-Proline, Isoleucyl-Prolyl-Proline) clinically studied for their effect on blood pressure. CoQ10 is included in the formula to improve endothelial function and blood pressure. Additional ingredients include magnesium and L-theanine. Magnesium helps to relax the blood vessels and serves as a natural calcium channel blocker. Theanine (gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid), a unique amino acid found in green tea, is known to promote a state of alert relaxation. Each of the components of the formula are backed by science for blood pressure lowering benefits and the combination supports several distinct mechanisms for proper blood pressure regulation.

The easily digestible formula is available in Straw-Banana flavor.
Probiotic Supplements
Quixtar, Grand Rapids, MI, has unveiled its Nutrilite Intestiflora 7 supplement. It helps build a natural balance of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract for immune system benefits. Daily use can also help with the normal digestion of dairy products. The supplement, available in a fine powder form packaged in a convenient stick pack, offers seven strains of live probiotics and a prebiotic to encourage their growth. The contents of the stick pack can be swallowed, sprinkled on cold foods or mixed into cold drinks. The fine powder formulation dissolves easily and the fresh flavor makes it easy to take.
Power Drink
Pure Prescriptions Inc., Encinitas, CA, has introduced Newgreens power drink. A departure from other shakes and smoothies on the market, it is available as a mint flavored powder, which can be mixed with water. Newgreens combines 68 different “super foods.” It also contains antioxidants, fibers, probiotics and a host of additional nutrients. Every scoop has the nutritional value of 10+ servings of fruit and vegetables, or roughly the RDA as determined by the FDA’s redesigned food pyramid.

LitoZin Relieves Symptoms of Osteoarthritis
A recent clinical study has demonstrated that LitoZin, available from EuroPharma, Inc., Green Bay, WI, is effective in decreasing cholesterol levels, as well as alleviating symptoms of osteoarthritis. The study, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, demonstrates that there was a significant reduction (82%) in joint discomfort after three weeks of treatment with LitoZin. The consumption of “rescue” medicine also declined significantly in the active treatment group. WOMAC pain significantly declined as compared to placebo after three weeks of treatment. The study’s results support the findings of earlier clinical studies published by the same group, as well as studies carried out by other independent groups.
Resurgex Reduces Oxidative Stress Markers in Athletes
Millennium Biotechnologies, Inc., Basking Ridge, NJ, has released the results of a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, which found its Resurgex nutritional formula provided enhanced performance and reduced oxidative stress levels (free radical damage caused by exercise) in Rutgers University Division 1 soccer players. Sustained oxidative stress contributes to increased susceptibility to injury and reduced performance in athletes. According to the company, this new data confirms an important role for Resurgex in the sports fitness field in addition to its already proven benefits for immunocomprised patients. In comparison to the performance test at the beginning of the preseason, there was a significant decrease in isoprostane response in the group of athletes receiving Resurgex at the end-of-preseason test. In contrast, the isoprostane response increased in the control group from pretest to posttest.
