Sabinsa Corporation, Piscataway, NJ, has secured a patent in Canada for its branded ingredient ForsLean, a standardized extract of Coleus forskohlii roots, which represents the only known plant source of forskolin—a natural compound that has been shown to increase lean body mass and help optimize body composition. Patent #2281562 protects the use and preparation of Coleus forskohlii extract and affirms that ForsLean is the only such extract that can be used legally in nutritional supplements for the purpose of increasing lean body mass in Canada.
