Fairlife LLC, Chicago, IL, a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company, has launched a line of premium milk with higher protein and reduced sugar in cooperation with Select Milk Producers (SMP). Using a unique filtration process, fairlife separates the nutritional components of milk. Once the milk is separated, sugar and lactose are removed and beneficial nutrients such as protein and calcium are concentrated. The resulting product boasts 50% more protein, 30% more calcium and 50% less sugar than regular milk, the company said. The fairlife line is available in ultra-filtered milk, reduced fat, chocolate, fat-free, and whole milk varieties.
