Magtein, magnesium l threonate, a patented compound for cognitive health and Alzheimers Disease, from AIDP, City of Industry, CA, has received a Letter of No Objection from the Food and Drug Administration, confirming its GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) designation. This milestone means that using Magtein in selected food categories at a level of up to 0.12%.

For this reason, Magtein was extensively studied in cell culture, in animal studies for its mechanisms of action, its effects on brain function, as well as its safety.
“Receiving a GRAS designation from the FDA is a huge step for Magtein,” said Kathy Lund, vice president of marketing and business development at AIDP. “It allows us to move beyond our current market in dietary supplements, into the massive food and drink manufacturing industry. Consumers will now potentially be able to get a wide variety of foods, from baked goods to beverages to processed juices and soups, containing Magtein, and reap the many health benefits of this form of magnesium.”
